The person who called in clearly needs to be made more aware of how ingrained the cultural discourses are in not only Western society but also in his own life. I agree with your guests when they said that "nice guys" will find girls who appreciate them, one way or another. I won't say that some girls don't find an exciting challenge in guys that aren't all-doing for them, but in my own experience, I appreciate having a sweet, kind boyfriend who shows genuine devotion to me and doesn't feel that he needs to be someone else in order to "have me". I am sick of the guys who think they can be inconsiderate and that that is how they get attention from girls. However, it is what they've been socialized to be, and I think that that is what the caller should have made clear. I think that ultimately, for girls and women who may have found guys who are jerks attractive, these types of people will become less and less attractive and the "cat and mouse" game will get old- nice guys will not "finish last" forever

My Profile

Ava Rose
Binghamton, NY
My name is Ava Rose and I am the host of Private Affairs . On this program I give advice for people about dating and relationships. I feel this to be an important topic since school teaches you so well about sex education, however most people have to learn the hard way when it comes to dating and relationships. My program aims to educate people on how to have a healthy relationship, and bring to light many problems commonly faced in relationships. Unlike other advice-giving characters you find on the net, I don't claim to be an "expert", only perhaps a connoiseur. I consider my radio show more of a forum for discussion rather than a place for me to tell readers/listeners what to do, which is also why comments and phone calls are not only welcomed, but also appreciated. Remember, communication is important to maintaining a healthy relationship, so please leave me comments and let me know what you think!
